Primary Care Counselling

Ealing Primary Care Counselling Service at TASHA Foundation

Counselling is a process that enables you to talk, in a safe space and in confidence, about issues or difficulties in your life. Counsellors enable you to understand yourself better, through listening and talking, and by understanding and acceptance. You may then choose, by gaining insight into your issues and circumstances and by thinking about the problem differently – and thus by drawing upon your own resources – to make changes in your life that feel right for you.

The Ealing Primary Care Counselling Service at TASHA Foundation (based at Windmill Place Business Centre, Windmill Lane, Southall) is available to people resident within the London Borough of Ealing and/or registered with an Ealing Primary Care Trust GP and over the age of 18. This is a time-limited service suitable for people with mild to moderate mental health issues.

Referral

You can either make a self-referral by using the online booking form , contacting TASHA Foundation on 020 8571 9981 to arrange an initial assessment appointment; or you can ask your GP to refer you. If you are referred by your GP, we will contact you within 3 days of the referral to offer you an appointment for an initial assessment.

The initial assessment session is carried out by a senior practitioner and lasts up to one hour. This will allow you to share the issues that led you to counselling, and to get a feel of what counselling will be like. If the assessor feels that counselling at TASHA Foundation could be helpful they will arrange for you to meet with a counsellor for up to 6 to 8 sessions. These may then be extended to a maximum of 12 in total.

If you use all the sessions, it may be helpful for you to consider accessing more specialist sources of counselling, or other sources of support. We can assist you through the provision of information; and discussing all possible options available to you.

Appointments

Appointments are usually at one-weekly intervals at the same time each week. Longer gaps can sometimes be arranged. There is no cost to you for this service, although it is important to bear in mind that Ealing PCT is funding your counselling and therefore it is appreciated if you would give us clear notice if you are unable to attend a scheduled appointment or no longer require the service.
